  • Industrial Affiliate Programs
    • An Industrial Affiliate Program is a membership program which affiliates support with a program of research in a field of study. Membership does not provide any claim to intellectual properties resulting from the research.

Affiliate programs must be approved by the Vice Provost for Research and the Foundation. No program will be approved which violates the principals and guidelines of the university procedures OVPR-01-03: Establishment of Industrial Affiliates and Related Membership Supported Programs. To locate the guideline please refer to the VT Procedure website: http://www.controller.vt.edu.

To establish an Industrial Affiliates Program, a request should be directed in writing to the Vice Provost for Research, with the concurrence of the Department Chair/Director and/or Dean. The request should include:

      1. The name of the individual who will coordinate the program
      2. The description of the proposed program
      3. The specific benefits to be offered to members
      4. The number of faculty members and graduate students who will participate
      5. The draft of the proposed industrial affiliate´s membership agreement(s)

Once the affiliate program has been approved by the Vice President for Research a new Foundation fund must be established. A fund will not be established until the Foundation receives the signed membership agreement establishing the program that has been approved.

Each member deposit must be accompanied by the signed membership agreement for the member company. The funds will not be accepted into the Foundation without the agreement, and the deposits not accompanied by the proper documentation will be returned to the department.
