The Hotel Roanoke and Conference Center had its best year ever, with record levels of revenues and profits.

The total revenues for the Hotel Roanoke were $13.5 million. These operations returned cash to the foundation, for lease payments and repayment of pre-development expenses of $689,000 for fiscal year 1998-99. Cash generated by the Hotel Roanoke since opening in 1995 now totals $5.6 million including $1.8 million paid to the foundation for lease payments and reimbursement of pre-development expenses.

In addition to this fiscal success, the hotel and conference center was again awarded the distinguished Four Diamond rating by the Automobile Association of America, making it one of only a few facilities in western Virginia to receive such a distinction.

Programmatically, this project continues to provide strong support for the university's mission. Over 15,000 participants attended Virginia Tech sponsored events at the Hotel Roanoke and Conference Center during the year. These events brought together university faculty and alumni, as well as people who had never before experienced the value of the university's educational resources. The facility is well established as a valuable asset for Virginia Tech's outreach mission.
